chatting to Laura Hamilton from ‘A Place in the Sun’

IMG_6272

We best know Laura Hamilton from our favourite property program ‘A place in the Sun’. We watch Laura showing prospective buyers properties abroad in exciting destinations and tempting us to also find our very own Place in the Sun.

Along with wowing us with properties on the television both home and away Laura is not only a Mum to two gorgeous little ones, but also a wife, business owner – most recently taking over as Postmistress at Lord Roberts on the Green, writer for HELLO! magazine and taking part in shows like the Jump and Dancing on Ice, plus many more exciting projects she’s involved with. Laura definitely is an all round girlboss and total inspiration.

buying a property in Spain

IMG_1941

We’ve had our house on the Costa Blanca for just over three years now and we get asked quite a lot about how we went about buying our house here in Spain and any pointers too.

I am in no means an expert, but I thought I’d share with you our advice and chat about things we’d maybe do differently if we were to buy again and ideas we’ve picked up along the way.

First of all there are hundreds of properties for sale in Spain. Apartments, town houses, villas, country fincas, re-sale and new builds. Whatever style of property you are after I’m sure there will be quite a few of them up for sale.

So there is no need to rush the sale.

That is probably my no.1 bit of advice, don’t rush.

Most properties are up for sale for a long time, so the likelihood of your ‘dream’ house being snapped up when you go away to think, is pretty slim. Which is another thing to look at is, if you want to sell in the future. You have to be prepared that it could be up on the market for a long time. So make sure the property you buy is 100% suitable for your needs.

laptop in bed – is it that bad?

IMG_1903

We’re always being told to not use any electronics a couple of hours before bed and taking your phone, tablet, iPad, laptop to the bedroom is a big no-no.

But we all do it don’t we.

Life’s changed.

For me, as I’m sure with most of us our phone is more than just, well, a phone, lol. It’s our personal electronic diary. Our lifeline. Our right-arm. We are all pretty much lost without it these days. I know if I misplace my phone for the slightest of minutes the mini panic attack sets in. Saying that though I am getting better at the weekends, as I try not to spend so much time on it and enjoy my time with Mark.

I absolutely cannot leave my phone downstairs at night. I’ve tried. But I can’t. My phone is my alarm clock and also I suppose a security device too. As when Marks away it gives me comfort to know if there were any problems my phone is right there, fully charged on my bedside cabinet.

We’re also told about no laptops in bed.

lemon water on tap

Hey guys,

Hope you all had a good weekend.

I can’t believe it’s Sunday night again. Seriously, where does the time go?

Our weekend was pretty low-key. Lot’s of pool time – floating on our lilo’s is literally our favourite thing to do on the weekend. That and playing with all our kitty cats! Cannot get enough of the kittens.

Friday night we chucked a few bit’s on the BBQ. Loving pork and chorizo burgers from Overseas Supermarket (Iceland, lol) at the mo – bloody delicious.

We had to eat inside as there were so many fly’s and wasp’s, it wouldn’t of been a pleasant experience eating al fresco unfortunately.

Saturday night we knew we wanted to eat out, but really didn’t know where to go. We drove around aimlessly for a bit, then we remembered a Chinese I’ve wanted to try for ages now.
